About Verona

Verona is a dedicated advocate and first-generation immigrant committed to positively impacting through compassionate public service and determined action. Growing up in a one-bedroom apartment, Verona's parents inspired her with a strong work ethic and a commitment to community service. In 2009, responding to a devastating tsunami in Samoa, Verona became a community organizer, setting the stage for a lifetime of advocacy and service.

 

As a successful small business owner, operating both Sagato Bakery & Cafe in Midvale and Renew Wellness & Recovery in Herriman, Verona brings firsthand experience in navigating challenges and fostering economic growth. Her journey as a young mother in the early 2000s shaped her passion for affordable healthcare, comprehensive support systems, and thoughtful government programs.

 

Verona's candidacy is centered on compassion, determination, and an authentic connection with the community. She believes in translating empathy into tangible results, advocating for economic opportunity, sensible gun laws, and accessible healthcare. Verona is not just a candidate; she is a tireless advocate ready to transform her community through genuine leadership and impactful change. Economic Mobility

Verona is committed to creating opportunities for economic mobility within the district. Her experience as a small business owner uniquely positions her to advocate for policies that support local businesses, job creation, and workforce development. Verona will work towards equitable economic policies that empower individuals and families to achieve financial stability.

Small Business Support

As a successful small business owner, Verona understands the challenges and opportunities faced by local entrepreneurs. She will champion policies that provide support to small businesses, including access to affordable loans, streamlined regulatory processes, and incentives for growth. Verona believes in the power of small businesses to drive economic development and strengthen community ties.

Gun Safety

Having personally experienced the impact of gun violence in her community, Verona is dedicated to promoting common-sense gun safety measures. She supports responsible gun ownership while advocating for comprehensive background checks and closing loopholes to keep firearms out of the wrong hands. Verona believes in a balanced approach that respects the Constitution while prioritizing community safety.

Education

Verona recognizes the pivotal role education plays in shaping the future of our community. She supports increased funding for public schools, ensuring that every child has access to a high-quality education. Verona advocates for policies that reduce educational disparities, enhance teacher compensation, and provide resources for innovative teaching methods.

Healthcare

Verona's own journey as a young mother navigating healthcare challenges informs her commitment to accessible and affordable healthcare. She advocates for comprehensive healthcare reform, focusing on expanding access to quality services, reducing prescription drug costs, and ensuring that every resident in the district can receive the care they need without financial burden.

Mental Health and Substance Use

Verona is a passionate advocate for mental health and substance abuse support. Drawing from her experience working with women facing mental health and substance use disorders at Renew, she will work towards destigmatizing these issues and increasing access to mental health services. Verona supports policies that promote early intervention, community-based treatment, and comprehensive support systems for individuals and families affected by mental health challenges.
